For years, the Rick's Place BounceBack Auction has been Kansas City's best-kept secret for getting fine art at fabulous prices. The deals are possible because most of the art is created by area graphic designers, photographers and art directors who donate their work. Outstanding art is still the draw, but this year's auction has expanded to include items for every bidder, including certificates for attractions, services, travel and unique gift baskets.
The seventh annual BounceBack Auction was held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at the American Heartland Theatre in Crown Center. Skip and Dani Quimby served as the honorary chairpersons and Craig Burnett was the auctioneer. Craig does a great deal of voice-over work and also has had careers as an on-air personality for shopping channels, an editor for TV and more. More than 100 auction items were available including award-winning artwork by Michael Regnier, photographer; Tom Corbin, bronze sculptor; and Lyndon Wade, photographer.
The BounceBack Auction is the principal fundraiser for the Rick's Place Foundation, which was founded in 1998 to provide education, mentoring, training, job placement and financial assistance to colleagues in the Kansas City marketing and communications community.
